The Jackman L. Stewart Athletic Center has two Olympic-size ice sheets, athletic office, fitness center, training room, athletic equipment issue room, classrooms, lockers and public/event space. The building includes custom specialty lighting, fire protection, HVAC, plumbing, power distribution, a security system, general lighting, and special room cooling and humidity systems.

The arena includes heat pump R404A ice refrigeration indirect system, dasherboards, and brine pipe dehumidification systems. Rejected heat from the ice refrigeration heat pumps is recovered to heat radiant floors in locker rooms, radiant floor in spectator area, preheat domestic water, ice melt pit and subfloor heat below the ice sheet to prevent frost build up. One arena is used as the summer concert shed for the annual Berkshire Choral Festival, and it is air conditioned by use of the ice refrigeration heat pumps.

The building electrical system is 480 volts, 3,000 amps. The main service supplies geothermal heat pumps for building heat and for the ice refrigeration system. The ice arena lighting utilizes 2 x 4 high-efficiency multi-level luminates with a lighting control panel, custom graphical software and automated lighting control.
