Pierce and White Residence Halls
Storm Lake, Iowa
Pierce and White Residence halls were originally built in 1956. While the structure of the residence halls were sound, they were in need of an update in order to keep students comfortable and fulfilled. With this goal in mind, LKPB Engineers provided a renovation for the residence halls, updating them into LEED certified buildings with a combined space of over 100,000 square feet.
Outfitting the $13M project included all new electrical systems, incorporating sensor controlled lighting in all individual rooms and lighting control panels in the corridors and public spaces; a new lounge opens up the building to enhance the natural day lighting. A new glass-enclosed entrance, skywalk and multipurpose space provide beautiful views of the campus and the newly upgraded courtyard. An elevator addition and enhanced access for those with disabilities were also a part of the renovation, as well as complete bathroom remodels with individual showers and a fire sprinkler system.
