The Minnesota State Capitol, a 500,000 SF building designed by Cass Gilbert, serves the Governor, the Attorney General, the Senate, the House and the Supreme
Court. It opened in 1904 after a 14-year construction process.
LKPB has provided consulting engineering services for the Capitol since the early 1980's. Projects include the Capitol's sound system, voice/data cabling, audio
visual system design and lighting design for State Capitol House and Senate hearing rooms, corridors and conference rooms. LKPB worked with representatives at
the Capitol for years in order to update this stunning, historic structure with the latest technology in the areas mentioned above. We also worked on special
systems that provided fire alarm with voice evacuation and lightning protection.
Other Capitol complex projects include the Rathskeller restoration, Quadriga lighting, ADA modifications, heating system upgrades, and the Peace Officers Memorial.
