Melrose Hospital
Addition and Remodel
Melrose, Minnesota
LKPB provided engineering design services for a 20,000 SF addition and 25,000 SF remodel at the Melrose Hospital, which is located 25 miles west of St.
Cloud in Stearns County. The work included a new pharmacy, a new hospital lab, new physical therapy area, and remodeled imaging and emergency procedure rooms.
New site lighting included new parking lot pole lights, bollards, building wallpack lighting, and Heliport lighting. Interior lighting utilized energy
efficient T5 lamps. Downlighting, decorative wall sconces, and LED accent lights were used in public and reception areas. Exam room lighting is controlled
through bi-level switching of lamps in room. Much of the lighting throughout the building is controlled through a lighting control panel with inputs from
photo-sensors, for daylight harvesting and occupancy. A new fire alarm system for the clinic addition was included for this project as well as required
smoke detectors and horn strobes.
The Melrose complex includes a 25-bed hospital, a 75-bed skilled nursing home and a 42-unit senior apartment building. It is part of the CentraCare
Heath System, a health group with hospitals, clinics and long-term care facilities that provides care at 15 locations spread across central Minnesota.
